Istrian shorted Hair

Flag of Croatia 🇭🇷

Image
The Croatian flag 🇭🇷 has undergone numerous changes that followed the political events in the country. After the establishment of the socialist Croatia in 1949, Pan-Slavic tricolor (blue, white, red) was chosen as the official flag together with the Yugoslav guerrilla star in the middle. After gaining the independence in 1991, the star was replaced with coat of arms of the country and a crown was later added in order to distinguish the flag from the Ustasha flag. The flag and the coat of arms have great importance for Croatians. Checkered shield of the coat of arms represents the Croatian nation and five small crests represent Croatian provinces - Old Croatia from the left, Dubrovnik, Dalmatia, Istria, and Slavonia. History The flag combines the colours of the flags of the Kingdom of Croatia (red and white), the Kingdom of Slavonia (blue and white) and partially of the Kingdom ...

Duchy of the Croats

Image
"Duchy of Croatia" (Croatian: Kneževina Hrvatska; also "Duchy of the Croats", Kneževina Hrvata; "Dalmatian Croatia", Dalmatinska Hrvatska; "Littoral Croatia", Primorska Hrvatska; Greek: Χρωβατία, Chrovatía), was a medieval Croatian duchy that was established in the former Roman province of Dalmatia. Throughout its time it had several seats, namely Klis, Solin, Knin, Biaći and Nin, comprised the littoral, or coastal part of today's Croatia and included a big part of the mountainous hinterland. The Duchy was in the center of competition between the Carolingian Empire and the Byzantine Empire for rule over the area. Rivalry with Venice emerged in the first decades of the 9th century and was to continue for the following centuries. Croatia also waged battles with the Bulgarian Empire, with whom the relations improved greatly afterwards, and the Arabs and sought to extend its control over...

Trpimir I of Croatia

Image

Montenegro During 1913 to 1918

Image
By Radoslav Raspopović Montenegro faced World War I militarily exhausted, economically worn out, and with a multitude of political, economic and social issues. The unfavorable climate in the country was further aggravated by a decline in the country’s international reputation due to events that took place during the First Balkan War, specifically the vast number of casualties and significant material damage caused in the Siege of Scutari, but also by the unresolved issue of its union with Serbia. Although an analysis of the events that took place during the First World War covers a well-known period of time, the political and military activities of the country in the period leading up to the capitulation of the Montenegrin army were significantly different in nature and importance, with the King and the government leaving the country in 1916 and carrying out their exclusively diplomatic activities under the new circumstances t...

History of Budva

Image
Budva is the “touristic capital” of Montenegro. It unites the two sides of Montenegrian life: the modern dynamic aspect and the ancient spirit that can leave no one indifferent. Budva is one of the oldest cities on the Adriatic coast, with a history of about 2500 years. The first mention of a settlement here goes back to the 5th century B.C. when it was called Butou, and was believed to be founded by the son of the Phoenician king who ran here with his wife. For many centuries the settlement was placed just within the walls of the Old Town. Today the Old town remains on a peninsula and has all the attributes of an old Mediterranean city, with narrow streets, analogous buildings with red tiled roofs, numerous historical sights and monuments. It is a real wonder that attracts tourists from all over the world throughout the year. BUDVA is the main tourist center of Montenegro. The new city was developed around the peninsula on where the old town stands (Stari Grad), surrounded...
